The Church proposes a liturgical Novena, of biblical derivation, before
Pentecost. The Roman Calendar speaks of the days between Ascension
Thursday and Pentecost Sunday as "a preparation for the coming of the Holy
Spirit," a time to prayerfully consider the role and power of the Holy Spirit in
the Church. The 2025 Novena to the Holy Spirit begins on Friday, May 30 and
ends on Pentecost Sunday, June 8. Each Day the Novena has a Theme, a
Scripture Reading, a Reflection, a Prayer and a Suggested Practice.
